The Chinese Journal of Process Engineering (monthly), founded in 1976, was originally named Journal of Chemical Metallurgy and renamed to its current title in 2001. Sponsored by the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (formerly the Institute of Chemical Metallurgy) and supervised by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it is an academic journal publicly distributed at home and abroad, published by China Science Publishing & Media Ltd. (Science Press). As a core journal in Peking University’s Chinese Core Journals and a Chinese Science and Technology Core Journal, the academic papers published in this journal are indexed by major domestic and international databases, including Peking University’s Chinese Core Journals Overview, Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), Chinese Science and Technology Papers and Citations Database (CSTPCD), CNKI, Chemical Abstracts Service (CA, USA), Elsevier Scopus, Abstract Journal (Russia), and Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) Database. It has also been successfully selected as one of the "5th China’s Premium Science and Technology Journals".

The Chinese Journal of Process Engineering is suitable for scientific and technological workers in the fields of engineering chemistry and metallurgy at home and abroad, as well as teachers and students of related majors in colleges and universities. Each issue of the journal has 120 pages and is published at the end of the month. The price for each issue in 2025 is 30 yuan, and the annual subscription price is 360 yuan (including postage).
